Just Upgraded CPU...Whew

After figuring out how to get the heatsink / fan off the motherboard I
Placed the New CPU In place , put the cpu latch down and locked it in
place. Then PUT a drop of thermal compound on and replaced a new Fan
and heatsink making sure the fan power wire was connected. Then after
turning the computer on Nothing. Fooled around with the heatsink
claps and more thinking ..Maybe the Bios needed to be reset. Reset the
bios jumper, and started it again . Still nothing till I held the
power button for 3 seconds. then the boot screen.. yipee. Feel glad I
Finally figured it out but this Upgrade I will leave to the experts
next time. My temps on the CPU are 48 Degrees Celsius And 114 F.
Hoping I did everything right.
Anyone know if resetting the bios was needed? or was the Heatsink
not placed exactly right?
Everything I read online never mentions resetting bios.

Never mind. problem tracked down to new Video card. needed 500w and I
only have 400w
everything run good now. So I guess after the video card upgrade and
cpu upgrade a new power supply was needed. The card in question : XFX
6800 XT With 256 mb. box states 500w Nvidia states 300w or more.
SOMEONE IS LYING AND I THINK ITS NVIDIA

If you bought a cheap power supply, it's almost certainly the PSU
manufacturer thats lying.
BTW, you shouldn't need to hold in the power button for 3 secs to make your
PC boot up. Bear im mind holding it for 4 secs will turn it straight off.

Thanks Steve, Actually it was the video card. I installed both a new
card and the new cpu in one day. so it was a matter of which one was
the culprit. When the old video card was put back in. everything was
working and the Pentium 4 2.8 ghz shows up fine.
Now its a question, do I Buy a new PSU for the video card or not.
