Just purchased tablet pc with tablet xp OS

Unfortunately the pc did not come with any of the core
windows programs; word, excel, powerpoint, etc. Can I
load my older windows programs on this new pc or do I need
a special version?

Word, excel, powerpoint, etc.... are not windows core programs. They are not
and have never been part of any version of windows. Some oem's may bundle
them in as a bonus, but they are not included in windows, they are part of
MS Office. If you have the office cd's it possible you can install them on
the tablet, but I dont know tablets so there may be a special version you'll
have to purchase. I don't see why they wouldn't work, cause it like a
laptop. If you dont have ms office cd's or any of the individual programs
cds then you will have to purchase what you want.

If I remember my limited experience with a loaner tablet, the Office Suite
was standard. There is an add-on you can download from MS to make the
Office apps tablet-aware - look for:

Those are applications - not part of Windows but of Microsoft Office,
and have to be obtained separately. The old ones will work - you must
remove them from any old machine and may then install retail versions
(not ones that came bundled with a machine) on any other Windows system,
including a Tablet

So if you have Office on a desktop, you can additionally install it on a
portable (ie., tablet) PC.
