Just installed Win 2003 TS

Hi All,

Just installed Windows 2003 Enterprise Server today with Terminal Server,
all working fine just got couple of questions:

- Is there a special way of installing Office XP on Terminal Server or do I
just go to Add/Remove programs?

- How can I map just local drivers from client excluding existing mappings
(is it possible)?

- Any other know problems that you pros. have come up with in your
experience.

- Recommendation on H/Ware for servers.

-I don't have AD so can I use local Security Policy to lock down server for
all users i.e.. remove Shut Down option etc...

Thanks for your help..

Just go through add/remove programs. Office XP is
terminal services aware already.

Local drivers? I won't understand what you mean?

I would put up a firewall infront of the terminal server,
but you probably already knew that.

Something with a ton of memory.

You should still be able to use the local security policy
to lock things down as well as tighten security.

Hi,

1. Yes, you can install OfficeXP on the Terminal Server via Add/Remove
programs. Again make sure only install the necessary components.

2. For drive mapping, you can do it via scripts or some tools in Win2000
Reskit. I can't remember the name of the tools at the moment.

3. Please note the licensing model of TS. Secondly printer driver and
maintenance cycle - user profile size, clear programs memory and etc.

4. For hardware is very subjective and its depend on what you want to run on
the TS. Typically hardware for 100 users, with 50 concurent users will be
dual processors, 2GB RAM and RAID 1 disk (at least 9GB) for OS.

5. Yes, you can use local group policy to secure the TS.

Cheers,
Chen Fui
