just another Norton problem

Must have opened the wrong Email message in OE. Getting Symantec box in
lower right hand part of screen that says scanning message 1 of 1. Shows 0
% then 54 or 55% complete then 100%. Then starts over again on and on.
Sometimes another box will appear that identifies an address to whom the
message was being sent. It is a different address each time the box appears
and one not known to me. It appears as if a virus is causing a message,
maybe including a virus, to some list of addresses. Can't see a solution on
the Norton site. Off line and back on to OE starts the whole thing over.

Problem might be solved. When turned computer on got Norton box that said
had detected and removed virus. But repeated scanning in OE was still there.
Did removal of temp files as suggested in your site under virus removal.
Problem still there. Did several restarts trying things including a
trendmicro scan, which found a different virus but not the one named by the
Norton box. Problem still there. Meanwhile, Norton box rotated between
virus deleted, could not be repaired, and access denied. Then, after another
shutdown, pause and restart, the problem was not there. I don't know if it
got fixed or the virus just got done what it wanted to do and quit."What's
