Just a curiosity

I've been curious about this for some time but never enquired about it 'til
now.
I'm using XP Home.
When I open 'Windows Explorer' I see the directory tree...
Desktop
My Computer
My Network places etc..
When I open 'My Documents' I get a whole lot of other folders and
sub-folders. Fine, to be expected.

Now when I open 'My Computer' it lists all my drives, Shared Documents
folder, etc.

Among those listed in 'My Computer' is a folder with the name 'Mario's
Documents', (I'm Mario).
which appears to duplicate everything that's in the 'My Documents' folder.
I believe I understand when 'Mario's Documents' is created, It's created
when installing Windows when it
asks who else will be using this computer. There doesn't seem to be a way
around this and I'm the only one using the computer. So, if I'm the only
user why is it necessary for windows to create me as a second account also?
Would it be advisable to delete the 'Mario's Documents'? Probably not!
I hope this makes sense.

TIA

Same folder - two different pointers.

Think of it like this...
You approach a building from the east. You see a sign on the building that
says, "Mario's Place". The next day, you are coming back from the west
(different side of the building) but you see a similar sign that looks
exactly the same to you and says, "Mario's place".

Essentially - you have a 'sign' that points to what is inside the building
no matter how you approach it. Same with what you are seeing. You have
just found a different way to get to it.

Want another... Open My computer, go into C:\Documents and Settings...
Find your username in there - open it.
I bet you find "My Documents" or "Mario's Documents" in there too.

If you were to unhide the system files on the system, you would find an ini
file that determines how that folder (it's actually called "My Documents" no
matter how you are actually seeing it and it is ACTUALLY located at
"%USERPROFILE%\My Documents" --> usually "C:\Documents and Settings\<Your
Username>\My Documents") is seen by you and others. That file is the
"Desktop.ini" file.

Thanks Shenan,
So what your saying is... Same building, two entries, with the contents not
duplicated anywhere?

What I am saying is one building - many entrances - no duplication unless
you set it up yourself.

No it doesn't duplicate it - it's the same folder just under a different
name.....
