just a beep

i cannot seem to get a beep in a dos based program. i was told to make sure
there was a 'default beep' event in sounds on control panel. there is not.
I do not know how to register an event. Help please.

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
