Whenever I click on an item in my taskbar, or just on the taskbar itself, the
cursor jumps to the upper left corner of the screen. Not a big issue, but
very annoying. It works properly everywhere else. Any ideas out there?
Thanks

You may have dirt on your mouse wheel making the Pointer/Cursor erraticaly
Jumpy, and you can see that on a small size Menu like the taskbar, but with a
page you will not feel/realize the cursor is being jumpy.
Bottom line clean your mouse or replace it with another one to be sure.
HTH.
Please let us know your mouse if still jumpy or not <grin>

nass

Don't slide your optical mouse across a shiny surface; you need a dull
finished surface, with some degree of coarseness, or pattern so movement
can be seen.

Thanks for the advice nass, but it is an optical/laser mouse. Just to be
sure, I plugged in a regular USB mouse and it does the exact same thing! It
jumps from the task bar at the bottom of the screen to the uppermost left
corner of the monitor!
Any other ideas, anyone????please.........

I'm not sure if this will help but it's worth a try. Start > Control Panel >
Mouse > Pointer Options Tab. Uncheck "Automatically move pointer to the
default button in a dialog box." This setting causes my cursor to jump
around in some applications.

Buck

And if none of those great suggestions help, run a virus scan. There is
some malware that messes with your mouse..
