Jumper question--External drive in enclosure

I have a Western Dig 120GB drive in an external USB enclosure. The WD
installation manual doesn't mention its use in an enclosure, and the enclosure
has no jumper instructions, since it will accept any brand. The WD comes with
the jumper in the Cable Select default. I have no idea if the ribbon cable is
Cable Select or whether that is even applicable in a USB device. The drive is
not detected when jumpered as "single" or "neutral". It is detected when
jumpered as "Cable Select", but I don't think Ghost will work on Cable Select
(which is why I tried the other jumpered positions. I tried it as Master and
it worked but only about 1/3 as fast. Does it sound right to leave it on Cable
Select? Thanks.

I wrote the above too soon, sorry about that. I finally got the drive to work
in the unjumpered position. And it looks like Ghost is finally working, too
(knock on wood). Thanks.
