Do I need this, as it says its from 8/4/08.

I see from this site

The versions say 5.6.0.8835 (For XP 32 bit)

I've got these 2 files already, but both say

5.7.0.5730 ?

Are the versions that are installed later or earlier than the site above?

How can my versions be later if the above are from yesterday??

And should I install yesterdays anyway?

Dont matter it wont install anyway, says the version of IE doesnt match

Hi,

Refer to this thread "Re: KB944338 fails" in microsoft.public.windowsupdate

The following is provided by MowGreen [MVP 2003-2008] and after installed
Script 5.7, my problem is gone:

Windows version is __________ ?
Assuming this is XP, did you install Windows Script 5.7 ?

Yes, theoretically, according to the information.

The original poster in another thread also mentioned he has IE so I may not
be the only one.

Thanks.

Cool thanx, I still cant figure out why the version of
iexplore is later on here than the other PC (20772 on here)

And 16628 or something on the other PC

We /suspect/ this is due to a "horked" install of IE7, most likely due to
not having disabled all real-time protections (e.g., anti-virus;
anti-spyware apps; some third-party firewalls) before installing IE7.

Two fixes:

1. Install Windows Script 5.7 manually.

2. Uninstall/Reinstall IE7 with all real-time protections disabled
throughout.

Hi,

Thanks for the update.

For major updates like IE7 (but not for other browsers) and service packs, I
always disabled ALL real-time protections from within the software's options
AND Windows Services AND reboot, among other things like cleaning temp files
and so on, to make sure it is in a clean state before doing anything else.

I am not sure about how our office deployment will go in the next few days,
but the stated cause might not be for my case. In any case, that's the
question for MS to find out not me.

Thanks again for the information and help.

Hi,

You're welcome and thanks for those who provided the help. Me neither but I
guess it's up to the company to find out why.

IE 7 was slipstreamed. I SS'd it with WMP 11 and SP2.

So, there was nothing at all running in the background

Then burned it to cd, then installed it. It seems to be working fine tho.

I think there's still a conflict between IE and IE7Pro, (it crashes IE when
I close it), and I think this is still an ongoing issue

I've removed IE7Pro for now, and its not crashing.

So, I'll wait until they update IE7Pro, to a version that doesnt crash IE
when I close the tabs, or close IE

And yup 5.7 of JS was already installed, which is probably why 5.6 wouldnt
install
