JRE 1.5.0_07 cannot be loaded with IE7

Hi all,
I upgraded to IE7 beta 3 and the Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded
since. With IE6 I did not experience any problems with the JRE. Problems
started after upgrading IE to IE7 beta 3. As soon as I try to start the Sun
Java Console under Tools, I receive the following error: "Java (TM) Plug-in
Fatal Error - The Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded".
The problem did not disappear after de-installing JRE, cleaning up the
system and registry, downloading a fresh JRE and re-installing it.
Out of curiosity I downloaded and installed Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.4. Here
the JRE is loaded without problems.
Any help is welcome. Thanks and kind regards, Remco.

Uninstall version 7 of the JRE and try version 6.

As proposed, I unstalled JRE 1.5.0_07 and installed JRE 1.5.0_06. IE7 still
cannot load the JRE. Firefox is still running fine. Afterwards, I
re-installed JRE 1.5.0_07 again (this time online instead of offline). Still
no changes.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi,
Longshots, but...
1. In Manage add-ons, is Java Console enabled?
2. Control Panel> Java Plug-In> Basic, make sure that "Do not start console"
is not selected. And, on the Cache tab, try clearing the cache.

Hope this helps,
Don

Hi Don,
1. Yes, Java is enabled.
2. Could not find the basic tab. But checking under advanced tab, option was
not set to "do not start console" but to "hide console". I also cleared the
cache.
This did not result in fixing the problem.

I played some more with the Java plug-in options. None resolved my problem.
I uninstalled Java, clean up the system (registry, user directories, etc.)
and installed Java 1.6.0 beta2. Again, no result.

I am now wondering whether Java ever worked. I have a very new computer and
do not really recall surfing to Java enabled sites. Maybe the configuration
of this computer was wrong from the start, which would imply that this
problem did not start as a result of upgrading to IE7. Anyway, I am lost.

Thanks for all the help. It is appreciated.

Sorry. I'm out of ideas except to maybe uninstall IE7 Beta 3, Install Java
_06 then reinstall IE7.

Remco,

Did Don's suggestion work? I have the same problem. I do not think it
is an isolated incident to your computer or set up.

Firefox works fine.

Hi AH,

Since this week my problem no longer appears. I expect that the installation
of the IE7 Release Candidate resolved my problem.

Give it a try; maybe it also resolves your problem.
Good luck and kind regards,
Remco.

Remco appears to have told you how he thinks his problem was solved.
Please try the IE7 group if you have IE7 problems.
I see in http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/default.mspx that
the recommended newsgroup is microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

In a proper newsreader:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

If you must use a web interface:
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...?dg=microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general
