JPG compatibility

Hi,

I hope someone here is able to help me. I have a friend who is sending me
..jpg images from a Mac computer. I try to open these up in Photoshop CS, but
it does not allow it, saying instead "Could not complete your request because
a jpeg marker segment is too short.". She is able to read the .jpg files I
am sending, and we have tried other compatible file types to no avail. Does
anyone have any suggestions?

MAC files do not always save with the extension appended to the filename.

Tell the sender to make sure they append the .JPG to the file name before
sending the file
