Jpeg turns into BMP?

Hi guys
Sorry if this is wrong group for this question. Something seems to have
changed in my XP pro settings when downloading images of the web onto
desktop. When i select image on any site it defaults to BMP file to download
instead of JPEG even though i know the file i want is in the other format.
Anyone any ideas what may have happened?

I had the same problem in Outlook Express. So -

I went to "Extra";
then to "Options";
then to "Maintenance";
cleaned-out everything...

- and behold: JPG/JPEG was available again!
