joystick trouble

steve

i recently bought flight sim 2004 and a joystick to go
with it. the joystick is a logitech attack 3. i did check
compatibility before i purchased it.
when i plug the stick in, windows installs it like it
should but kicks it out after a while and puts out a
error box.
then when i check to see if the stick is still
recognised, there is nothing.
i appreciate that i may have a conflict somewhere, but i
am new to this stuff and quite frankly, i haven't got a
clue.

Please help some one.

I currently use a logitech Extreme 3D digital (wingman)
joystick (usb). When you use windows drivers, you have to
provide certainty it is recognised inn the settings in
your control panel. If you opt for Logitech drivers ( I
recently downloaded the 4.40 driver for my joystick and
have no issues. If you continue to have issues ( did you
disable your anti virus program prior to installation of
this device, If not you have to disable your anti virus
program, unplug your device ( I would recommend loading
the logitech driver on boot up while you disable the anti
virus program ( they reenable on boot up), install your
driver while you do not plug in the joystick, only plug
it in when it prompts you to, and you should have no
issues.
