jOT? ava plugin partners

OT?

I'm having a hard time googling to know what are the java plugin
partners for firefox, but mostly the same as for IE iiuc, and I'll
have to do that next, iiuc.

The instructions for installing Java plugin, not sure why I read them,
show a screen which will ask me to permit partner software to be
installed, but doesn't say anything about what the software is, not
the names or what they do.

Now here Java has been giving me software free for years without
asking anything from me, and I'm afeared that they's going to want a
mighty price from me now.

So what did you say to the question?

Do you get to look at a list of partners and say yes or no to each
one.

I just installed Java on a virtual machine, and did not receive that prompt.

I was asked though, whether I'd like to install Yahoo ToolBar.

It could be, that Sun is bundling different piece of crap (to pay for
the download), with each install.

Sun has been bundling Yahoo Toolbar with each Java update for a long
time now, from well before they were acquired by Oracle. It's a PITA,
no doubt. You have to watch the screens to find the checkbox to
uncheck or you'll be stuck with the thing. I assume they're getting
paid by Yahoo, I don't know why else they'd incorporate an unrelated
piece of ... er ... stuff.

It could be, that Sun is bundling different piece of crap (to pay for

a bundled piece of software, and instead you were asked some kind of generic
question.

So I didn't see the prompt you got.

I didn't actually get it. The instructions on the Java webpage said I
would. I haven't run it yet, but will after the Tuesday (Monday?)
updates run and after the new version of Adobe is installed.
Sun was purchased by Oracle, and so there is no predicting what they'll
do next. :)

Yeah, Tim, I hate toolbars, after the first one I accidentally
installed kept the whole browser from working (disabled it with
alt/View, and because I don't want to waste anymore space on the
screen anyhow, and it looks too "busy" anyhow.

I like DOS where there was nothing on the screen except what I was
doing now. :)
