Have a document in 2 parts and want to join second part to the first. When I
try inserting as suggested, get message box, convert file from with a list of
file types which do not seem to apply, when I tried the first (windows
enhanced metafile) got error message so not sure what to try next

Are both Word 2003 .doc files? What is the the "as suggested" way? have you
tried Insert > File?

Can you open both documents in Word?

Both files are Word 2003 .doc file and I did try Insert>File, that was the as
suggested and when I did that is when I got the Convert File from box

Yes, I can open both documents. I have tried inserting document 2 at the end
of Document 1 and I also tried inserting document 1 at the beginning of
Document 2 either way I get the 'Convert file from' box. The two documents
have an identical layout, the page numbers follow on and it just seemed more
logical to have them in the same file but 2 into 1 doesn't go!

I cannot immediately put my finger on the problem - however, you could try
the boiler.dot download rom my web site which joins files (though may have
the same problem) or you could open both and copy/paste the content of one
into the other.
