I am trying to join a windows 2000 machine to a
workgroup. For some reason that machine does not see any
shared resource within that workgroup. My windows xp
machines have no problem seeing the shared resources.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Make sure that it does not have a personal firewall interfering with local
network access, that Client for Microsoft Networks is installed in network
properties, and that netbios over tcp/ip is enabled in tcp/ip
properties/advanced/wins. Try pinging other machines by first ip address and
then name to establish that you have basic network connectivity and use
ipconfig /all to make sure they are all on the same network address. ---
