JOHN ----HELP!!!! 6 DAYS TRYING TO BURN TO DISC

Want to make VCD or DVD did project in movie maker
saved to hard drive as dv-avi movie file cannot burn to
disc with roxio or nero get message that no disc is in
the drive (cd-rw is in drive) or in nero got message
there is an error with video mpeg encoder I know we
must be doing something wrong please explain in beginner
terms what we need to do. (posted message monday and
you told us how to save as dv-avi file) we did burn file
to dvd in roxio (somehow) but it will not play on dvd
player??? It will play on computer???

You have a dvd burner in the pc?
In nero you have set it to cd from the option list top right, from DVD, and
then chose make vcd?
Try it with a normal cd, rather than a rw.
Sometimes nero can have problems because it is also used by xp, so it can
pay to disable disc writing on the dvd drive and reboot the pc, then try
again to write the vcd.
control panel>r/click on recorder>properties>recording and untick enable cd
recording.
remember to tick it again if you want to use xp's drag and drop recording
facility.
Check on www.dvdrhelp and see if your dvd player is compatible with the
formats of disc you are producing, eg +/- dvd rw's etc.
