Jet Error trying to link longfilename dbf's using Office XP

I running Office XP with all the current updates. I'm trying to link
to several foxpro version 2.6 files that are name with longfilenames.
I'm trying to link this into a shreadsheet using external data
linking. 2 machines in our office can do this and the rest can not.
Any suggestion on what to look at? We have the same MDAC version 2.8
RTM

Also we are running Windows 2000 SP4

Jet 4.0 version was verified to the most current and matches on all
machines. Machine All have Visual Foxpro version 6 with SP 5
installed.


Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried using the FoxPro and Visual FoxPro ODBC driver? The latest is
downloadable from msdn.microsoft.com/vfoxpro/downloads/updates and is not
included in the latest MDAC release.

We have tried that. To provide a bit more detail we are getting a jet
error unable to find object error. But as soon as we rename to a 8.3
name it works.
