Javascript not running in IE6

Here's the problem I'm experiencing ...

IE6 will not run links that generate javascript popup
windows.

All the active scripting settings are enabled etc. I've
reinstalled IE6 twice and uninstalled and reinstalled XP
updates but still no luck. There does not appear to be any
knowledge base articles describing this behaviour.

Interestingly, MSN Explorer works fine suggesting it may
not be XP related but IE6.

Is there possibly a visible or Registry setting or a
corrupt dll that that can cause this behaviour?

I believe SP1a. The PC is setup to automatically download
updates.

I've also reinstalled the JavaVM via a download from Sun
but didn't seem to make any difference.

Keep reading. JavaVM has nothing whatsoever to do with Sun's Java. (You
might remember a few multi-million dollar lawsuits.)

Problem resolved by adding the missing registry entries
as found in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679

It wasn't a javascript problem afterall.
