I have spent hours and days researching the following:
Internet Explorer 6 SP1 Update: "HTTP 404 - File Not Found" Error Message
When You Try to Visit Web Pages That Are Opened by JavaScript Functions in
Frames or in Windows.
The fix at this kb is pre-xp sp2 (home version). You cannot install it once
you have sp2. you cannot do a system restore and then install this "fix." you
cannot uninstall sp2 and install this "fix."
I have read every message, support, etc. I could find on this error. There
are lots of people out there with this problem with xp sp2. There are many
"work arounds" that do not work. There should be an update to resolve this
problem for xp sp2 but I have not found one. I repeat: I have conducted every
troubleshooting technique. All the security and advanced, etc. tabs have been
insured to be per recommendations to get javascript to work. I have done all
that has been suggested. I want a patch for sp2. No other workaround listed
on any tech support sites works.
This is seriously crimping my on-line shopping, bill paying, etc. Please,
does anyone have that one solution? I really hate to have to upgrade to xp
professional!
Thanks.
