java script secondary window will open the immediately close by it

I have been using I.E. 6.0 and everytime I try to open a javascript secondary
window it just pops open for less than 1 second and closes ... there is no
error message at all. I am using windows xp home. Any ideas as to problem
and fix would be greatly appreciated.
