Java Runtime Environment

My system info tells me that the Java Runtime Environment
is "damaged". I am having problems with my browser
stalling and I don't know if the two are related. How do
i fix a damaged Java Runtime Environment and could it be
relarted to stalling browser. P.S. I run Windows XP Home.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
