Java Applet

I am trying to open a web page and logon onto a site but
the message I get is (Java Applet not supported, download
the lastest Microsoft Internet Explorer), I downloaded
the latest addition but the same message still appears.

open IE ,click tools-->Internet options-->Security-->Custom

find Scripts-->Java Applet
choose start(or maybe use)

because i use a chinese version windows , the menu is chinese, i translate
it into english , i dont know if it is right .
