JAVA access

Please help me.
I used to go to a JAVA chat room using windows 98 and
Internet Explorer 4.0
I bought a new computer and installed XP.
Now the JAVA chat room does not work and they tell me
it's because I do not support JAVA! I now have
InternetExplorer 6.0
I looked at the TOOLS, OPTIONS and Security and set it up
the same. Except 6.0 does not have the same JAVA stuff
4.0 does!
What can I do?
