I am new to computers, and have lost the windows xp talking tour, which I was
finding quite good!I probably delated it by accident, how can i restore it(its
not in deleted folder)or can it be downloaded again for free?thank you

Hi

From Start>Run type the following

tourstart

to see if the Windows Tour starts.

Go to Start > Run and type: tourstart.exe , and hit enter.

To create a Desktop shortcut:

1. Right-click on your Desktop and select NEW > SHORTCUT
2. In the Create Shortcut box type: "%SystemRoot%\system32\tourstart.exe" , and click Next.
3. Type in a name for the shortcut, such as 'Windows XP Tour', then click Finish.
4. A convenient shortcut to Windows XP Tour will appear on your Desktop.

thanks for quick response,I found that one in help & support, but there was an
interactive one which i was working my way through,it was very thorough, which
is exactly what I need!by the way where are you replaying from?what country?

I don't know about downloading it but you can find it easily by using a
unique feature of windows called Help and Support. Click Start, Help and
Support, enter "xp tour" and click on search.

Hi

The only other tour file that you might have is, from Start>Run

%systemroot%\system32\dllcache\tourstrt

but I think you'll find it's the same one.

Nope, unfortunately that didnt work.Sorry to be annoying you,but the
"run"button, that can run any program in the computer?and does it start with
anything other than %system%\system32\ etc.

Hi

Sorry, but I don't know of any other Windows Tour. Did you perhaps download
a 3rd party Windows Tour program at some time?

Nope,I bought this computer about 12 months ago,and started to go through the
xp tour,bit by bit,it was very thorough,giving examples etc,but it was 6
months ago since i last used the tour/exercise,and i cant find any trace of
it on my computer!and the computer was new,so no 3rd party envolved.I must
have accidently deleted it from my computer!Anyway I'll recover from
it!thanks for you're help.

Yes, 3rd party probably involved. I do not remember what it's called, but
what you're looking for is installed by Dell, et cetera and is only
available from the computer manufacturers. Try contacting the manufacturer
of your machine or look through the documentation that came with your
computer.

Tourstart should still be on your Windows XP CD, perhaps in a compressed
format.
