itunes Freezes

I posted here few days ago for recommendations of good sites for music
downloads. Thanks to all who responded. I subsequently downloaded itunes and
purchased an album. It downloaded fine but I cannot burn it to a CD. Itunes
locks up as soon as I hit Burn. I've spent hours trying to figure out some
way to do it. I've imported and exported files until I'm blue. Finally, I
decided to just burn them on good old WMP. (I've used WMP, Musicmatch,
Audiogalaxay, Napster, WinMix in the past with no problems). I can't even
transfer them because Windows does not recognize the file type of m4p. I
looked that up and it's a protected AAC File. Any suggestions? I guess I'm
stuck with this album I've paid for and it's not even for me. I was doing it
as a gift. I wrote itunes support but haven't heard a word.

I found a program called Blaze Media Pro that will supposedly convert AAC
files. Since I am apparently never going to get itunes to function properly,
my question is what's the best thing to convert these files to ( WAV, WMA,
OGG, MP3) AND what bitrate and frequency should I select? This is way more
difficult than it should be :-(

Thank you. But I still need to know how to convert the files I have
downloaded and paid for from itunes. I found the same album I purchased on
itunes for less money on realplayer. I can't even find a forum for itunes to
post to. I'm just so aggravated that these files won't convert. Leave it to
Apple. I would call and ask for a refund but I can't find a # and they don't
answer their emails queries. Arrgh!
So again, can ANYONE tell me what type of file is best to convert to and
what frequency and bitrate to use??? PLEASE! Thank you.....

There is only one LEGAL way to convert a DRM-enabled file to one that does not
contain DRM i.e. MP3.
1. Burn the purchased tracks to a CD.
2. Rip that disc into the format of your choice

Now if you are unable to burn them to a disc because of software problems, then
that is another story. In that instance the vendor should help you.
Try asking for help in the iPodlounge forums. http://www.ilounge.com/
or Apple's discussion forums. http://discussions.info.apple.com/
