iTunes creates folders - out of control!

I've been purchasing and downloading MP3 files. The ones I've bought I
placed in a folder called My Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Download so that I
knew which folder to backup regularly. iTunes has an annoying habit of
moving them in to individual artist folders i.e. My Music/iTunes/iTunes
Music/"artist name" . I move them back to the download folder and iTunes
sneaks back later and moves them again. Can I stop this?

Ask the makers of iTunes. It is not a Microsoft program.

iTunes has Preferences with quite a few options. See if they offer what
you need. Otherwise:

Apple Support - http://www.apple.com/support/
Apple Ipod (and itunes) discussion groups -

Good Advice - Remember any iTunes you buy aren't yours, they
belong to Apple and you're merely renting them.
