itunes and quicktime 7 install problems

I'm attempting to install itunes and qt7.I keep on getting a message saying
error 1402 couldnt open
key,HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\UNINSTALL\QUICKTIME.
any help appreciated.
