iTunes (7.6.1.9) Installation Problems - Multiple Users

S

Skid

I am running Windows XP with all updates installed. I have (3) users sharing
a single pc.

I was prompted to upgrade to the latest version of iTunes (7.6.1.9), and now
iTunes will only run from (1) user. If you attempt to run iTunes from either
of the other two users, the Windows installer starts and attempts to install
iTunes. The installer is not able to install iTunes on either of the other
two users.

I have attempted to uninstall iTunes and Quicktime (Which appears to be
successful). But after re-installing the latest iTunes release, it only
works on the original user of the PC.

I have installed the windows install clean-up program to try to clean-up any
remaining files from iTunes/Quicktime, and it does not find anything.

When logging on to one of the other (2) users it attempts to install iTunes,
but gets a Fatal Error, and does not complete sucessfully. I have even tried
adding a new user account, but it does the same thing!

Has anyone experienced this problem, and have any suggestions on what can be
done to correct the issue?

Also having a problem here. Nobody on the WWW apparently knows how to fix
it. My poor wife has an ipod and I can't even load songs on it because of
their stupid proprietary program. Sucks. Windows Media should incorporate
the ability to load ipods. My error signature reads

AppName: itunes.exe AppVer: 7.6.1.9 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 001501c1

Which doesn't say much. PLEASE e-mail me if an answer is found.

There is now a article at Appleinsider.com stating that they are working on
the itunes 7.6.1.9 bug. I hope so because now even though i have have
downgraded to a older version the problems now presist. My itunes runs
slugisly, freezes, and refuses to burn any sort of dvd. The burn for a
regular music cd takes about an hour to complete 1 track. Geeeeeer!

The only way to currently correct this is to run the program as an
administrator. You can either give those users admin rights, or right click
and select "Run As..." and then select a user with admin rights. Not sure
when they will fix this problem in the current version.
