Its me again- Help please Emergency

My computer was working just fine. It's just that my keyboard tends to not
work at times so I have to restart it for the keyboard to function (I need a
new one I know). Anyway, I guess I accidently shut my computer off (literally
shutting it off) without going through the deskstop and clicking Shutdown and
all that so when I tried to start it up again it gave the options of starting
on safe mode or last good configuration etc. I tried them all actually. No
matter which one I tried, it always went directly back to the infamous blue
screen. So I kept restarting the computer to execute each command and I don't
know whether to stop trying because it could affect it even more. I guess
shutting it down "unsafely" wasn't a good Idea. OH! and I shut it down when
the Windows XP logo was showing, not when it had reached the deskstop screen.
Do you suppose that this is where my problem lies? Please let me know. Thanks

Any abrupt shutdown isn't good for the computer. Shutdown properly
the system closes applications & services and gracefully powers off.
When you "Pull-the-Plug", you prevent XP from writing out the data to
the Registry/Drive and other important things.

Most likely, you have disk errors as a result of your actions. Hopefully,
you have a XP CD-ROM disk so you can boot to the Recovery console
and run a CHKDSK C: /R to attempt and repair the disk errors.

Once any disk corruption is fixed, the PC may be able to boot correctly.
However, if a critical part of the Registry is damaged you may have to do
a Repair install. Keyboards can be bought at Office Depot for under $10.

Re-run setup from your Windows XP Installation disk and choose to repair the
corrupted Windows XP Installation.

Until you get a new keyboard, it might not be the greatest thing in the
world to do but it is probably better than rebooting the computer again
and again just to get the keyboard to work and it is certainly better
than turning off the power at the wrong moment...

If you have a PS/2 keyboard (the one with the little pencil sized
connector on the end of the cable) then some folks find that when
the keyboard hangs up you can often get it to wake up by gently
unplugging the keyboard, waiting 10 or 15 seconds, and gently plugging
the keyboard back in. Tiny little pins -> gently plugging it in.

Same trick often works if you have a PS/2 mouse that hangs up.
I'm not sure all these are because of bad keyboard or mouse, I'm
starting to think that it might be that the timing is just off a
little during the race to get everything running at boot time.
But that is just a guess after some observation of some systems.

I hope this might help a little, at least till you get a new keyboard.
Some say this isn't a great idea, others, like me, seem to have done
this with systems many times and not seen a failure yet.

For the rest of this I'll let someone else give you hopefully good
advice.
