My window is XP Home edition SP3 with 224 MB RAM.
I need to press the reset button several times and after giving about 30
minute break between each session of repeated reset button press.
Please help. Thanks in advance

You are having a problem with excessive heat. Open the case and clean all of
the dust out. Pay particular attention to the CPU heatsink and fan, video
card heatsink and fan (if any) and the case vents and fans.

Are you talking about a button on your computer case? If not, what
ARE you talking about?

Why are you pressing the Reset button instead of the Power button? If
you are pressing the Power button (to power on), is something happening
that you didn't bother to describe here that is making you repeatedly
hit the Reset button? If so, what is it that happens after powering on
that make you keep hitting the Reset button? Some error message? A
lockup at the same point during the POST or Windows startup?

Dear Mr. Ray Luca
Yes, I'm talking about reset button on the computer case.

OK... now, why are you using that button to reboot? Because your
system won't reboot normally using Windows?

My computer is not booting by pressing power on button as it would normally.
When I press power on button the LED's of connected accessories lights up for
few seconds and nothing happens.
Thanks for your response.

1) That is not the normal way of rebooting.
2) You have a hardware problem: something is wrong with the button.

NOW you are talking about the POWER button. You're confused and
you're confusing us.

It definitely sounds as if you have a hardware problem. Take your
computer to a competent local repair shop.

That flash you see, especially of the LEDs on the keyboard, are the
result of the CPU sending out a Reset signal. That's needed to ensure
the host and devices are at a known base state.

Maybe the heatsink fell off the CPU. The BIOS sees an overtemp
condition and halts the computer. With the fan on the heatsink on the
CPU, the CPU will heat up very quickly.

Could be the CPU fan is broken and doesn't spin anymore, or the wrong
fan was installed (you didn't say your host used to work, just what it
is doing now). The BIOS monitors the RPM for the CPU fan. If the RPM
is too low or zero, the BIOS halts the host because it is being told
there is no cooling for the CPU.

Could be your PSU (power supply unit) went south. If it can no longer
handle the current load of your hardware when it is first powered on
then the power-on logic on the motherboard will shut off the PSU.

Do the intake/exhaust fans and the PSU fan even begin to spin when you
press the Power button? Do you even hear the hard disk whine as it
spins up?

Did you or anyone else recently open the computer case and putz around
inside?

What is the make, model, and model number of your PC?

I saw your other posts. You need to be clear if you are to get any
useful feedback.

Are you talking about the power button or the reset button or both?

What specific problem are you having? That is, has your computer locked
up at one point and the only option you have is to press reset? We need
clear details! Please provide any error messages *in their entirety*.

Also note that you may not have enough RAM for optimal performance. (But
that is another issue...)

Thank you for your reply.
Yes, I can hear the intake/exhaust fans I can the hard disk whine as it
spins up. I can't hear any fan spinning in my PSU.
It was opened recently by the computer company, they said that parts of this
computer is not available as it is more than 5 years old.
Your idea about PSU no longer handle the current load seems to be right.

However I want to explore the software part only to correct my problem.
