issues with system/windows

Need help getting windows xp/pro w/sp2 to run more efficiently. I've done
several troubleshooting steps with your help since the last entry, but I
still have the same problem

*run at least 2 (free) anti-spyware/malware
programs: Adaware and Spybot
along with Norton System Works, 2003.
*run registry PRO...clean and no major problems.
*added more memory from 256MB to 640MB.
*scan again for virisus/worms/trogan horses
ect.....once a week.
*delete old/unessecary files and empty rec. bin.
*sfc scan in safe mode
*retrieve latest updates from Mircrsoft for
windows/explorer7.
*disable any unessecary start up programs in
Sys. config. utility

Major Symptoms:

*system very slow logging on and off approx. 2-3 minuets.
*emits a slight popping noise from speakers when
logging on to windows.
*freezes often, more than normal (quite annoying to have to shutdown and
reboot)
*slow response upon executing a command approx. 7 to 10 sec.
*sometimes hear a beeping tone when logging on.
*get message when I sometimes try and run a program with error: program not
responding and needs to shut down.
*slow response when surfing web sites ISP: VerizonDSL.

Any concrete insight to rectify at least some problems would be greatly
appreciated, but I don't need a guess of what might work.

What is using the processing power?

How many processes are open?

What is running on System startup?

If you open Spybot, MODE menu, ADVANCED
Click the TOOLS tab (on left)
Scroll down & check SYSTEM STARTUP & click it on the left. What is running?
Right-click, export... In the File Save Dialog you will need to add '.txt'
(without quotes) & click SAVE
Open the text doc & paste in here for us to see. Some people won't like you
doing that in this newsgroup but it will show what is making your machine
drag/take forever to startup

Awaiting your reply,

There are all kinds of problems here. What is the history of this machine?
How did it get into this condition?
