Issues with Display Properties

There was some kind of a trojan virus on my system and I managed to get rid
of that. Had to reinstal my graphics card. But now for some reason, my
Display Properties only have two menu boxes..Screensaver and Settings. The
background, Web etc are not showing. Can anyone explain why that is so and
what's the fix.

Hi,

Go to Kelly's site http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
then go to "Restore All Display Tabs" (Line 285 on the right) and
download the fix.

Hi Ozi,

CHeck for desk.cpl files under folder windows>system32>desk.cpl
First search where original file has been moved by searching(hidden files(
under directory system32 ) *.cpl. Then override the corrupted file with new
file. Launch "desk.cpl" by double clicking, if it seems to be still
corrupted, hmmm copy from some other pc and try...hope this will work,,,

Check these two registry settings. Set them to 0

Hi,

Simple and easy edits. You may download and run them:

Restore Desktop and screensaver tab (line 128, right column)

Enable the appearance tab (line 282, left column)

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Hope this helps.

Errrr...i don't think these kind of symptoms are caused by the corruption of desk.cpl
