Issues relating to reinstalling XP home?

New PC, OEM Windows XP home. Supplier's support is total
and utter rubbish (savastore.com). Can anyone please help?
"WMI file missing or corrupt". Several advanced settings
won't work. I'm condidering a full re-install of XP. Have
tried 'refresh /Repair' but no joy. I have activated XP
at least once, possibly twice (I selected dynamic
installation for repair) Will I have to buy a new copy of
XP? Will I have to reload and update all my application
software again? can I keep, or is it worth keeping the
existing registry files? Will XP do everything for me? Am
I asking for major hassle by reloading XP? should I put
up with this limping installation? AARRRGGGHHH the
stress.... %-[

You may want to back up the stuff you care about before reinstalling XP.
Other than that it's a straight forward procedure. Just pop the CD in and
select the upgrade option. Things may not work right after the *upgrade* is
complete until you reinstall all the service pack updates that were
installed before. Your registry will be preserved but that may not be a
good thing. Perhaps corrupted registry is the culprit of your problem.

Change to windows 2000, its a lot less trouble once you
have it setup correctly ! xp is still to unstable, you
should wait until sp2 or later before using xp !!

Thanks for the reply.
I have already tried the upgrade option without any luck.
I'm now considering starting from scratch with a new
installation.
