Issue with WinXP SP2 Security Center.

B

Brian McMullen

Greetings all,

I'm using a current version of Symantec AV and have the windows firewall
disabled and the hardware firewall enabled on my router.
Whenever I do a shutdown/startup (but not a restart) I get a popup balloon
telling me that my computer might be at risk... blah blah blah.......
The "notify me" options are always checked for the firewall & AV, and I
uncheck them everytime. Then in the security center panel, I have to verify
in the same two sections that I do indeed have these products
installed/configured and to stop complaining about it (my words, not
Microsoft jargon)

After the next shutdown/startup sequence I go thru the same song & dance....
Anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it permanently?

TIA
~B

Hi,

Me, I would just have disabled the Security Center service:

Start/Run --> services.msc

Find "Security Center" in the list, double click on it, set
"Startup type" to Disabled.

That did the trick! ~ Thanks!
