Hi all. Recently i tried to play a dat file from a vcd on my windows media
player 10 but failed to do so. There is no particular error message, just
that the dat file showed an exclaimation mark on the playlist. However when i
try to play the vcd on another xp machine with media player 9, it work fine.
Is there any settings on my media player 10 that i should look out for? Thks
in advance.

For media player questions it's best to post to the media player
newsgroup: news://msnews.microsoft.com/public.multimedia.windows.mediaplayer

Hi Calvin,

I check the dat file with a software called gspot. The software stated that
i already have the codec required for the dat file. Moreover this file is
played from a retailed vcd and hence should not be compressed by special
encoding.
