Issue with unwanted logging in and out.

Hi.
I am the only user for this computer and I have always had it set up so it
goes streight into my account when I log in.
But my Computer has suddenly started to go into the user log in screen
instead of going streight into my account.
This is really getting anoying, I'm the only user for this computer and I
don't want to have to log on every time I want to use the computer.

What has gone wrong? Can anyone please help me fix my problem before I go
insane?

Thanks -Tom

Go to Start -> Run.
Copy and paste the following into the Open box:

control userpasswords2

Click OK.
In the "Users of this computer" box, click on the User you want
to have logged on automatically.
Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer".
Click OK.
In the box that pops up, make sure the account you clicked on
earlier is entered next to User Name.
Enter your password twice.
Note: You can leave the password box blank if the account does
not have a password.
Click OK.
Reboot to see if you get the desired results.

Good luck

Have you recently done a windows update and installed the .Net
Framework? If so this installs another account which then triggers the
welcome screen. To rectify run windows update again and install the
update to .net framework.

Otherwise:

1. Go to Start | Run and type in: control userpasswords2 | Ok.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password
To Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user
name and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you
start your computer.

You can accomplish the same thing by:

Download and install tweakui for xp and use its auto logon feature.

Lastly you can add the Dialog box that comes up when running control
userpasswords 2 to the Control Panel with the following tweak:

Add Control User Passwords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)
