Issue sending attachments from Outlook 2003 to Apple Mail 10.4.11

Whenever I send emails with attachments to my brother who has Apple Mail
10.4.11 from my Outlook 2003 on Vista, he gets the same image I sent him a
couple of months ago of his dog, and the attachments I actually send, don't
come through. I sent him a Word attachment today, but he got an attachment
that was WINWORD.DAT
Is there a compatibility issue with Outlook 2003 to Apple 10? Or does one
of us have the other blocked on attachments, and if so, how do you unblock
that?
I sent the same message to his gmail and his daughter's yahoo, same
attachment, and those accounts received them just fine.
Any ideas?

Verify you are not sending in the Rich Text message format but use HTML or
Plain Text instead.
