isapnp.sys error

Hello everyone,

I was hoping that someone could help me with this
problem. I installed a new hard drive and loaded xp pro
on it. Everything went fine until I installed some
windows updates. I don't know which one caused it as I
installed several at once. I rebooted after the updates
and got a black screen saying "Windows could not start
because the following file is missing or corrupt--system32
\DRIVERS\isapnp.sys. It would not let me go into safe
mode or use the repair option on the cd. I ended up
reformatting it and everything is fine now, only because
I haven't installed all of the updates. I have searched
and search online for answers and can find none that
relate to my problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the site. I checked it out and it's
everything that I've found so far but doesn't work. The
question I guess I'm really asking is if anyone knows if
there is a windows update that causes this error. I
don't want to download that update again if that is the
cause.
