ISA (on riser) not detected

Hi

Im trying to install a motion controller ISA card (non PnP) onto a
riser. However, the computer (Win98SE) does not detect the card even
after loading the drivers. Is it because there is a possible conflict
in address/resources? How do I get around that?

Thanks a bunch

Since it's not PnP, you may need to use the 'Add Hardware' function in
Control Panel.

I forgot to mention, Its not detected in the "Add Hardware" function,
in the search as well as in the list of devices (specific selection).

I forgot to mention, Its not detected in the "Add Hardware" function,

The usual thing is to use the Have Disk button in that situation
so it can see the inf file that has the device detail specified.

If it's not PnP then it isn't going to 'detect' anything because there's no
PnP 'talk' for it to detect.

That puts you back in the 'good ole days' where you have to manually tell
the driver what the I/O address and IRQ lines are, depending on what the
card uses (and whether the driver install defaults to something that
works). And you have to manually make sure the addresses and IRQ don't
conflict with other cards.

You then see if it works and if it doesn't you go back to making sure
there's not an address or IRQ conflict with something.

It's a PITA, and is why PnP was developed.
