Is Yahoo doing all it can to prevent the spread of viruses?

I found this thread while looking to see if anyone else was having
this problem, which I see, they are. The last few weeks or so I've
been getting slammed with this crap. I mostly use Yahoo mail for
registering with Usenet, so it isn't affecting my home PC but still,
if someone sends a legitimate e-mail related to a post, odds are I
won't get it unless it's shortly after I clean out the yahoo mail
account.

The idea of redirecting to the trash based on attachment content
however doesn't alter the fact that the account is still getting
filled. It just changes their destination.

It occured to me that it would be useful if there were an option to
block ALL attachments. I don't see an option to do this. If there is,
could someone advise?

There is no option that I know of to block attachments through yahoo filter.
Secondly even if you redirect this flood to the trash folder, that folder
still counts against you and is not automatically deleted.

You raise a good question. I had assumed that when the contents of
the Trash was causing your account to go over your limits and more
email came in, it would cause the Trash to be emptied, at least
partially, and the new letters would not get bounced. Since the Trash
is emptied periodically automatically anyway this would be the
logical thing to do. It would be unimaginable to me that Yahoo would
bounce email or discard it, to save messages you specifically already
told it you wanted to delete.
I'll test this the next time my email box gets filled again with
those fake "Microsoft security update" emails. I won't have long to
wait since this is happening every other day now.

It is particularly foolish of Yahoo to do this to people who have paid
for upgrades, but they do.
