Is this the way it should work??

In Word 2003, I print a document to one printer that is not the default
printer. When I close that document and open/print any other document, these
do not print to the default printer but to the last printer used

Is this the expected behavior?? If so is there a way to change it??

If you aren't closing Word, that is the way it will work. If you close Word
and open it again, it will go back to the default. If you don't want to
close Word, instead of hitting the printer icon, use File - Print and change
the printer back.

Yes, within a given Word session, changing the active printer in Word makes
it the default (closing and restarting Word resets it to the Windows
default). If you want to have buttons that print to specific printers, see
