if you're asking if there's a fee or charge of some kind for asking
questions in the microsoft.public newsgroups, then the answer is No, there
is no charge. the ngs are open to the public, questions may be asked and
answered by anyone. the rule of thumb is "let the buyer (post-er) beware" -
there's no guarantee that the answers you get will be either correct or
helpful; though more often than not, they'll be both - especially if posted
by an Access MVP.

Just deposit $10 into the CD slot on your computer...

Yes, it's free. It's a public "peer support" newsgroup; anyone can ask
questions, and anyone can answer. Nobody's paid to staff it - folks who answer
questions do so on a voluntary basis.

My CD drive is now giving read-errors.

Is this because the $10 note is not the same as the Currency in my Regional
Settings?

Oh, no, Allen! You obviously put $10 AUD in! It's a Windows based machine;
regardless of the Regional
Settings, Bill's made sure it'll only take $10 USD! ;0)>

Nah. It's not a read error - it's a greed error!

Sometimes they can be pretty goofy, though.
