Is this possible; 2 questions!

Hi all,
I am curious if this can be done? I have installed Vista Ultimate upgrade
over my XP Media Center edition; it runs very well except for the ATI drivers
and no TV tuner found. I do understand that the XP Media Center license was
absorbed by the upgrade. Meanwhile; I now have an available XP Pro license
left from a no longer operational PC. If I reformatted my Vista drive and
installed the XP Pro on this drive and then installed the Media Center on my
D (spare) drive. Could I then re-install Vista over the XP Pro and
re-activate Vista somehow; most likely over the phone? I would then have
Vista on my main hard drive and the XP Media Center edition on my spare drive
under a dual boot format. This would allow me to have Vista and XP…there
are still some things I use on it and then I could have my TV option too!
I’d buy a new graphic card but I hate to spend more on this PC since I hope
to get a new PC within 6 months or so.

Now if I can’t do that, here is the 2nd question…I removed my “spare†hard
drive before installing Vista…don’t ask me why…it made sense at the time.
The problem is; it has an entire bootable copy of the above mentioned, now
absorbed Windows XP Media Center on it. I’d like to be able to use the disk
space, even if only for storage. What problems will I experience when I plug
it back in? Should I install some type of boot manager before I plug it in?
If I wanted to use that “spare†copy of XP Pro, will I need to reformat the
media center XP and then install the XP Pro? I know it’s all about the
license and what you’re entitled to, I don’t want to step out of bounds
here…I like to keep everything legal.
I’d appreciate any input or guidance.

1. Yes, your plan will work; you will almost surely have to use telephone
registration to get your copy of Vista re-registered but it is allowed.

2. You may no longer use the copy of XP on the second drive anywhere, that
license was voided when you upgraded. If you put the drive back in the
system you can use Disk Manager to initialize and format it and use it for
additional storage.

I would connect the old drive and leave Vista the way it is on the other
drive.
This is for installing XP after Vista.

I dont understand why you want to take off media center edition to get vista
onto the XP pro key. You can still use your XP media center edition. Mine
didnt lock when I upgraded I know this b/c i installed my xp on slower pc
when I purchased vista business upgrade.
