Hey, i had no idea where I could ask about this, and actually contacting
microsoft is one of the biggest pains...

anywayz... I recently started to build computers for other people, and I
wondered if this was legal. I know you can buy Windows XP serials for much
cheaper then having to buy the CD and the serial and such. But If I wanted
to save the person money, would it be ok, to just use the serial, and install
it with my own Windows XP CD, and send him a copy of the Windows XP cd? but
I got a feeling that this wont be supported...

In order to offer a "legal" installation of Windows XP,
you must supply the purchaser with a legal Product Key
and the original Microsoft OEM installation CD with
the edge-to-edge holographic image. You cannot make
a copy of the CD and then give the copy to the purchaser.
If you do, the purchaser could file a complaint with Microsoft
and Microsoft's legal department will then contact you.

To avoid any problems, you need to purchase a Microsoft
OEM CD and Product Key together and not just purchase
a product key.
