Is this card any good?

M

me!!

Just seen this at overclockers.co.uk. Wondered if its any good and if
its worth upgrading from my radeon 9800 pro.

The memory is 400mhz slower than the ultra variant, but leadtek cards
usually oerclock quite nicely.

I don't know about availability in the UK, but in the US the 6800GT cards
are more sought-after than the 6800. (The 6800 series isn't yet common, but
they won't be selling online above suggested retail price for long, I hope.)

The vanilla 6800 cards list for $300. For $400, the GT has 256 MB of RAM,
and the same 16 pipes as the 6800 Ultra ($500). The GT also uses a single
Molex connector to supply auxiliary power; the Ultra uses two connectors.

I don't recall the standard clocks, but the GT lies between the base and the
Ultra.

Whether any of these would be a worthwhile upgrade over a 9800 pro would
depend to some degree on the system you're putting the card in, and what
video resolution you wish.

For a comparison of a variety of cards, see:

http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2113

The 9800 pro isn't listed, just the 9800XT. My own card, a 9700 pro, looks
feeble by the latest standards.

Have fun.
