I spent all day working on aschool project in works word processor,
unfortunately i hadn't saved yet and accidentally pressed contrl w instead of
shift w. now the file closed and i lost it all. can it be restored at all????
I know i'm dumb, but do i have to start all over again?

Whatever you didn't save is irretrievably lost. Sorry.

Lesson learned: Get into the habit of saving your work frequently...every 10 minutes or so. I was dumbfounded to read that you worked on a project all day without saving your work.
