Is there anyway to check times for when a document was opened?

Recently some private documents of mine were opened and viewed. I would like
to know who viewed these documents and it is of the essence to find out who
did it.
The only way I can figure out who did it is to determine what time range the
documents were opened in.
Is there anyway to check the history of when documents were opened so that i
can determine the time that they were viewed?
Thanks...

You may not be able to. I would strongly suggest you not keep private
documents on a public computer.

I may not be able to? Is there no certain answer? Anything i can do outside
of word possibly?

I'm saying that I don't know of a way to tell. It's simple enough to erase
any tracks you might leave if you are the one who's peeking. You can try
password protecting your documents but at least once a week we have someone
post that they've forgotten their password and there's no way to hack back
into it. This is why I'm recommending keeping your private files off of a
public system.

Opening a document does not set any markers in a document unless it is saved
or printed and then saved, which will be reflected on the Statistics tab of
File | Properties. Otherwise, unless there is some document management
application in use, there is no record.

Unless you have tracking software installed on the PC there is no way to
tell when a document was viewed and certainly not by whom.

Word provides password access encryption to prevent this sort of thing.

On an off chance, you might try looking in the various Recent folders. A
shortcut is created there for opened documents - the time the shortcut was
created might give some clues. Oh, and get a thumb drive!
