Is there an RDP Client for PPC that Scales the Window?

Guest

I have tested the TS client capability on PPC 2003 and it works but I find it
unsatisfactory because of the need to scrol the window. Does anyone know of a
third-party solution, or, for that matter, a Microsoft solution to this
problem. I guess that what it would mean is to have the window scaled down to
fit the size of the PDA display, in this case a Dell Axim X5.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

It wouldn't be very functional if it was resized to a QVGA sized
screen... Remote Desktop/Terminal Services becomes a whole lot more
user friendly when using one of the VGA Pocket PCs (x50v or the IPAQ
4700 series) running at 640x480...

Jeffrey,

thanks for the informative followup. You have given me the justification I
need to "upgrade" to an X50v!

After turning OFF your caps lock switch you might look at the end of this
page that has the registry hack required to make that work...

Thanks for the response. sorry for the CAPS!!

I downloaded the Desktop installer version for ActiveSync but it wouldnt
load the app into the add/remove app list on my activesync. I have a symbol
handheld that has a Intel XScale 300 MHz processor with windows mobile 2003.
do you know if this app is compatible? is there another registry editor that
works on the intel platform?

thanks.. Mark

For the free registry editor...???

If so, you might try downloading the .CAB file. From the version pull-down
menu select the "PocketPC 2002/2003 (ARM/PXA)" version. Download the file
then using ActiveSync Explorer move the .CAB file to your PocketPC. Then, on
the PocketPC, navigate to where you saved the file and simply tap on the
..CAB file to install. Once its installed it should be listed in the "Start |
Programs" window.

I have used that program on my iPAQ 5555 before and it installed/worked just
fine. I now use Resco Explorer ($$$$) which includes a registry editor. Its
a great program...

since you;ve been so helpful, im having trouble with the term serv client, i
successfully connect to the server and then cannot again. i had tried to soft
reset and no avail, i recall seeing a ms kb article that theres an issue with
reconnecting to a term serv in application mode, but i cant connect even to
an other server...... :-(

i did a hard reset and reloaded my apps and was able to connect one time to
one server.....

any ideas?
thannks again.... mark

That was an issue with Windows Mobile 2003 concerning TSC reconnects...

http://groups.google.com/group/[email protected]

http://groups.google.com/group/micr...hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&scoring=d#4374b84914fbacd7

Some manufactures provided a work around patch and/or firmware/ROM upgrade
that corrected the issue. I believe the issue only effects TSC links to
Windows 2003 servers. I only use TSC on an iPAQ 5555 into XP Pro boxes and
have never seen the problem...

Your only recourse is to check with the manufacturer of your device to see
if there is a patch/work around.

What PocketPC do you have?
