Does anyone know of a backup utility for MP3's? I'm aware that the
best thing is backup to cdr's, but I have lots of files and little time.

Plectrum gave you the correct answer, but an even faster

and more reliable one is a second harddrive, but that
costs a lot more money than a CD-R.

That is absolutely your best option. That way you also have MP3 CDs to play in
compatible DVD players, etc.
